Poland launches tender for construction of the largest high-speed rail tunnel
Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), the company responsible for the national megaproject of the same name, has announced a tender for the construction of the longest high-speed rail tunnel in Poland. This 4.6 km long tunnel will be located in the city of Łódź. The project is the third and most significant contract within this construction initiative. A key element of the project is a single-tube double-track tunnel, which will be bored by a tunnel boring machine with a shield diameter of 14 meters. Trains from Warsaw will enter the tunnel at the Łódź-Fabryczna station and exit to the southwest at the Łódź-Kaliska station, in the Retkinia area.
